Abdalmajid Katranji, MD

As a hand and wrist surgeon as well as a wound surgeon, the challenge of addressing pain is complex. Having the privilege to serve in the mid-Michigan region Dr. Katranji interacts with traumatic injuries across the spectrum. The perception of pain as well as the physical stimulus of pain has a dynamic role in the outcome of any procedure he’s involved in. This highlighted by his experience in dealing with a concert violinist and a construction worker who both experienced a fingertip injury to the right index finger on the same day. There was virtually no distinction in the severity of injury to each one but the impact of how pain was perceived and what they could and could not do because of the pain in their dominant right index finger was remarkable. As a medical relief worker, the dynamic of pain and injury is compounded.
